3. Ouderen en de geriatriefysiotherapeut/-kinesitherapeut

Samenvatting

In dit hoofdstuk zullen we eerst ingaan op de consequenties van veroudering voor het functioneren en hoe dit kan worden benaderd vanuit de het concept positieve gezondheid. Vanuit het ICF-model krijgt de fysiotherapeut/kinesitherapeut inzicht in diverse domeinen van het functioneren van een persoon. Een model dat in dat kader de laatste jaren aan populariteit heeft gewonnen is dat van ‘positieve gezondheid’. Hierbij wordt er niet naar de ziekte en het gezondheidsproblemen gekeken, maar staat de mens zelf centraal en diens vermogen om ondanks beperkingen een betekenisvol leven te leiden en om te gaan met fysieke, emotionele en sociale uitdagingen. Zelfmanagement en eigen regie spelen een belangrijke rol. Een praktisch voorbeeld van dat laatste is de Coach2Move-benadering, waarin motivational interviewing, het klinisch redeneermodel HOAC II en gezamenlijke besluitvorming een prominente plaats innemen.
