Orthopedische afwijkingen bij het syndroom van Down

samenvatting

Afwijkingen van het bewegingsapparaat komen bij kinderen met het syndroom van Down veelvuldig voor als gevolg van ligamentaire hyperlaxiteit. De belangrijkste orthopedische afwijkingen bij kinderen met het syndroom van Down zijn atlantoaxiale instabiliteit, patellofemorale instabiliteit, sub(luxatie) van het heupgewricht, scoliose en platvoet. In dit artikel wordt een overzicht gegeven van de klinische manifestaties en de therapeutische mogelijkheden bij deze afwijkingen.
