Opleidingen diabetische voet zorg in ontwikkelingslanden: een curriculum voor assistenten diabetische voetzorg

Samenvatting

Wereldwijd leven er 285 miljoen mensen met diabetes en dit aantal bedraagt naar schatting 438 miljoen in 2030 (1). Als gevolg daarvan is ook het aantal mensen met een diabetische voet stijgende. Uit optelling van de epidemiologische rapportages uit alle regionen van de wereld komt een cijfer hoger dan een miljoen amputaties per jaar bij mensen met diabetes. Dat wil zeggen dat er elke halve minuut een been geamputeerd wordt vanwege diabetes (2).
