3. Ontwikkelingsmodellen en persoonlijkheidspathologie

Samenvatting

In dit hoofdstuk ligt het accent op het perspectief op het opsporen van geordende verandering om de ontwikkeling van persoonlijkheidspathologie te benaderen. Eerst bepreken wij de basisprincipes van deze benadering en geven de implicaties aan voor de bestudering van persoonlijkheidsstoornissen. Vervolgens worden enkele algemene aspecten van persoonlijkheidsontwikkeling aan de orde gesteld. Daarna besteden wij aandacht aan de klinische, persoonsgerichte benadering van persoonlijkheidsstoornissen en aan de variabele gerichte en dimensionale benadering (‘Big Five’). Een van de schaarse longitudinaal empirische onderzoeken naar de ontwikkeling van specifieke persoonlijkheidsstoornissen wordt in par. 3.5 besproken. Ten slotte komen wij terug op de basisprincipes van de ontwikkelingspsychopathologie en wordt de balans opgemaakt.
