Samenvatting

Van oudsher spelen bij chronische nierschade (CNS) leefstijladviezen, gericht op voeding, een centrale rol in de preventie en behandeling van metabole en cardiovasculaire complicaties. Het cardiovasculaire risico bij CNS is hoog. Algemene leefstijladviezen zijn momenteel onderdeel van de richtlijnen voor CNS en bij gevorderde CNS en ouderen is er ook aandacht voor ondervoeding. Het ontbreekt echter nog aan een systematische en geïntegreerde aanpak waarin deze pijlers van leefstijlbegeleiding voor CNS worden samengebracht. Het systematisch meten van leefstijlparameters, zoals in de nefrologie middels 24 uursurineverzameling gebruikelijk is, geeft objectief inzicht in de voedingsinname, voedingstoestand en lichaamssamenstelling op zowel individueel als populatieniveau. Evaluatie van deze gegevens laat zien dat er op het gebied van leefstijl veel te winnen is bij de gemiddelde CNS-patiënt en dat voor sommige patiëntengroepen de huidige adviezen tekortschieten.
