Samenvatting

Het noonansyndroom (NS) werd voor het eerst beschreven in de jaren 60 van de vorige eeuw, door de Amerikaanse kindercardioloog Jacqueline Anne Noonan (1968). Ondanks een relatief hoge incidentie (1:1000-2500), is het syndroom nog vrij onbekend bij zorgverleners zoals huisartsen en psychologen. NS, dat lange tijd foutief werd aangeduid als het male Turner Syndrome, heeft weliswaar een aantal fenotypische overeenkomsten met het turnersyndroom, maar vindt haar oorsprong in een ander genotype.
