Periarticular disorders occupy a distinctive place among occupational disorders. Since the beginning of the new millennium, they have represented two-thirds of the total number of such cases in France. Over the last decade and a half they have been the subject of much attention from scientists, occupational health professionals, employers and trade unions. However, musculoskeletal problems can be considered relatively unimportant compared to accidents at work or to such fatal disorders as lead poisoning, silicosis and occupational cancers, and they are particularly difficult to analyse as well.
