25. Morbide-obesitaspatiënt en de patiënt met obstructief slaapapneusyndroom

Samenvatting

In dit hoofdstuk geven we eerst een samenvatting van de pathofysiologie van morbide obesitas en consequenties voor orgaansystemen. Hiermee zal er een beter begrip ontstaan waarom en waardoor morbide-obesitaspatiënten postoperatief in de problemen kunnen komen. Hopelijk verbetert dit de postoperatieve zorg voor deze patiënten. Verder gaan we in op het ziektebeeld obstructief slaapapneusyndroom en de consequenties voor de postoperatieve fase. Hoewel OSAS vaker voorkomt bij een hoger BMI, kan OSAS ook voorkomen bij patiënten met een normaal BMI. Het onderwerp OSA wordt besproken voor alle patiënten en niet alleen voor de morbide-obesitaspatiënt.
