In Psychology, Law, and the Wellbeing of Children, editors Miller, Chamberlein and Wingrove compile chapters by various authors to present a wide range of psycholegal analysis and research pertaining to the wellbeing of children who interact with various aspects of the legal system. The book addresses the way that the legal system, as a whole and through individual legal actors, affects the physical, social, and mental development of children. The book discusses the evolution that has occurred regarding people’s understandings of the ways the legal system affects children’s wellbeing as well as the legal protections afforded to children; and the authors commend the progress that has been made in those areas. The authors urge individual legal actors and the legal system as a whole to continue adapting to the needs of children, which they believe can be achieved through continuing research about how to better address the special needs of children involved in the legal system. …
