Samenvatting

Dit hoofdstuk beschrijft het MOHO, een ergotherapeutisch inhouds- en praktijkmodel dat toepasbaar is voor elk individu dat een handelingsprobleem ervaart. Het model beschrijft hoe handelen gemotiveerd, (in patronen) georganiseerd en uitgevoerd wordt. Het MOHO is gebaseerd op de systeemtheorie. Het beschouwt de mens als samengesteld uit drie met elkaar samenhangende componenten: wil (volition), gewenning (habituation) en uitvoeringsvermogen (performance capacity). Deze componenten vormen in wisselwerking met de omgeving het handelen. In het handelen worden drie niveaus onderscheiden: participatie (occupational participation), uitvoering (occupational performance) en vaardigheid (occupational skills). Vaardigheid is ingebed in uitvoering en die uitvoering is weer ingebed in participatie. Participatie leidt tot (handelings)identiteit en competentie. Gezamenlijk resulteren de identiteit en de competentie in het aanpassen van het handelen. Verandering in therapie is een dynamisch proces en heeft betrekking op gelijktijdige en op elkaar inwerkende veranderingen in (de componenten van) de persoon, zijn omgeving en de relatie tussen de persoon en de omgeving.
