Samenvatting

De meest voorkomende ligamentruptuur van de knie is die van de voorste kruisband.[1] Zelden is sprake van een geïsoleerd letsel; meestal gaat een voorstekruisbandruptuur gepaard met meniscusletsel (vaker lateraal dan mediaal), een mediaal bandletsel of een kraakbeenletsel. Na dergelijke gecombineerde letsels ontstaat een grote kans op artrose van het aangedane kniegewricht binnen tien tot twintig jaar.1
