Samenvatting

Otitis media met effusie (OME) is een conditie van het middenoor die wordt gekenmerkt door ophoping van vloeistof achter het gesloten trommelvlies zonder tekenen van een acute infectie. Een belangrijk kenmerk van OME is gehoorverlies. Dit kan een negatieve invloed hebben op functioneren (zich uitend in gedragsproblemen) en ontwikkeling (zich uitend in een taal- en spraakachterstand).
