Samenvatting

Voor alle processen in het lichaam is energie nodig. De energiebehoefte is multifactorieel en varieert over de dag. Dit hoofdstuk geeft informatie over de determinanten van energiegebruik (rustmetabolisme, diet induced thermogenese, lichamelijke activiteit, de factoren ziekte, groei en herstel en de lichaamssamenstelling) en hoe deze determinanten gemeten en geschat kunnen worden. Hierbij komen veel gebruikte formules, niveau van lichamelijke inspanning en de meetmethoden indirecte calorimetrie en de actometer aan bod.
