In The Mindful Breathing Workbook for Teens: Simple Practices to Help You Manage Stress and Feel Better, author Matthew Dewar presents a tutorial for teens on mindful breathing. While many self-help books feature breathing for a chapter (e.g., Davis et al., 2019; Hanson et al., 2020; Wolkin, 2021), much fewer are devoted solely to this practice (see Broderick, 2021; Wegesin, 2021). To the author’s credit, they have focused on one specific technique, which, if practiced regularly, can provide benefits in a number of areas, including stress management (Crowley et al., 2018; Feiss et al., 2019), socialization (Hafenbrack et al., 2020), and school performance (Britt et al., 2018; Clinton et al., 2018; Rajkumar et al., 2021). …
