Psychoanalytisch georiënteerde groepstherapie voor alcoholisten

Abstract

In dit artikel wordt de residentiële groepspsychotherapeutische behandeling van alcoholisme beschreven vanuit een psychoanalytische invalshoek. Deze benadering is vooral geïnspireerd door de zelfpsychologie van Kohut. De traditionele psychoanalytische techniek dient te worden aangepast aan de fasespecifieke noden en behoeften van de alcoholist in remissie. In de beginfase is de therapie eerder psycho-educatief, directief en steunend. Wanneer de abstinentie stabieler wordt, kan een expressievere focus in de therapie worden gekozen. Het belang van continuïteit tussen een residentiële behandeling en ambulante nazorg wordt onderstreept.
