PROJECTED FAMILY STRUCTURE BY MODERN JAPANESE ADOLESCENTS
Using Hatta's Doll Location Test, family structures of Japanese adolescents were examined. Students and their parents were asked to present their actual and ideal family structures by means of pinning down miniature dolls representing family members. There was a gender difference
in the case of students projection in dyadic distance between self and parents. The dyadic distances between male students and each parent were largely similar; however, in the case of female students, dyadic distance between self and mother was closer than between self and father. The dyadic
distances between spouses varied depending on who represented the father and mother.
