부모·자녀간의 갈등이 사회문제로 대두되면서 부모-자녀 관계향상 프로그램 및 부모역할 교육의 필요성이 지속적으로 제기되고 있다. 본 연구는 기존의 부모교육이론을 종합하여 처음으로 체계화한 STEP과 가장 최근의 부모교육프로그램인 Triple-P의 교육원리와 목표 및 교육내용과 방법 등을 비교·분석하여, 그것이 현행 우리나라 부모교육에 어떠한 시사점을 줄 수 있는지를 살펴보고자 하였다. 연구결과 첫째, STEP은 좋은 의사소통의 기술과 민주적인 양육방식들을 훈련하는 데 효과적인데 비해 Triple-P는 다양한 프로그램을 실시하여 각 가족의 문제와 상황 및 욕구에 따라 맞춤형 서비스를 제공하고 있다는 교육적 효용성을 찾을 수 있었다. 둘째, 우리나라에서도 Triple-P와 같이 지역별 특성, 가정의 사회 경제적 수준, 연령에 따른 다양한 대상을 고려한 프로그램이 마련되어야 한다는 것을 제시하였다. 셋째, Triple-P는 아동을 지도·감독하는 책임을 가진 자로서 이에 합당한 권위를 전제로 하는데, 이는 한국의 전통적 가족가치관에서 보다 적합한 것이 될 수 있는 지에 대한 후속 연구로 보완되어야 할 것이다.

As the conflict between parents and children has emerged as a social problem, there is a continuing need for parent-child relationship improvement programs and parent role training. In this respect, This study compares Triple-P and analyzes the educational principles, objectives, educational contents and methods of STEP that systematized existing parent education theory, It examines the implications for current Korean parent education. Research Results First, STEP is effective in training good communication skills and democratic nurture schemes, whereas Triple-P provides a tailored service based on each family’s problems, situations and needs by implementing various programs, Was found. Second, It was confirmed that programs such as Triple P should be prepared considering regional characteristics, socioeconomic level of family, Third, the Triple P is responsible for guiding and supervising the child, presupposing appropriate authority, therefore this should be complemented by a follow-up study of whether it can be more appropriate in the traditional family values of Korea.
