Abstract
In April 2010, Arizona launched SB1070. The primary purpose of SB1070 was to constrain the movement and presence of undocumented immigrants, especially Mexican immigrants, in Arizona. However, SB1070 has resulted in the homogenization of all Mexicans in Arizona as undocumented immigrants and narco-terrorists. A premise in this article is that the ballot initiative process serves as a vehicle for promoting anti-immigrant legislation. Also, the ballot initiative process is driven by the public's enhanced perception that Latino immigrants are a threat to the social and cultural fabric of US society.
