Biologische Korrelate der Resilienz im Kindes- und Jugendalter

Published Online:https://doi.org/10.1026/0942-5403.13.4.201

Biological correlates of resilience in childhood and adolescence

Abstract. Biological correlates of resilience have only started to be studied in recent years. This paper presents a review on current empirical findings; we report gender-specific aspects of resilience, and findings from psycho- and neurophysiological, neuroimaging, and molecular genetic studies. Considering biological correlates of resilience seems a fruitful approach in developmental psychopathology. The modification of biological correlates of resilience may allow us to develop preventive interventions aiming to increase the chance of an adaptive outcome despite significant adversity.
