Abstract
Zusammenfassung. Der Aspirations Index (Deci & Ryan, 1997; Kasser & Ryan, 1993) ist ein auf der Basis der Selbstbestimmungstheorie entwickelter Fragebogen zur Erfassung allgemeiner Lebensziele mit Hilfe von sieben Subskalen (Persönliches Wachstum, Beziehungen, Gesellschaft, Gesundheit, Wohlstand, Ruhm, Attraktivität). In der vorliegenden Arbeit wird eine deutsche Übersetzung dieses Instruments vorgestellt und in drei Teilstudien (4565 Schülerinnen und Schüler; 76 bzw. 136 Studierende) untersucht. Der Fragebogen erwies sich als intern konsistent, zeigte eine hohe Stabilität und entsprach in seiner faktoriellen Struktur den theoretischen Annahmen. Zur Validierung wurden die mittels des Aspirations Index erfassten Ziele frei generierten persönlichen Zielen gegenübergestellt. Hierbei zeigten sich deutliche Belege für die konvergente Validität der beiden Verfahren. Außerdem wies der Aspirations Index in einer gemeinsamen Faktorenanalyse mit dem GOALS von Pöhlmann und Brunstein (1997) teilweise deutliche Überlappungen auf.
Abstract. The Aspirations Index by Kasser and Ryan (1993) and Deci and Ryan (1997), which was developed on the basis of self-determination theory, is a questionnaire on seven global life goals (personal growth, relationships, community, health, wealth, fame, and image). In this paper, a German translation of the instrument is presented, and its reliability and validity is examined in three samples (4,565 high school students; 76 and 135 university students). The results indicate that the subscales possess good internal consistency and high stability; moreover, the factorial structure is in line with the theoretical assumptions. Validity was tested by comparing individuals’ scores on the Aspirations Index subscales with personal goals, tapped by idiographic methods. Findings provide strong support for the convergent validity of the two approaches. The Aspirations Index also shows considerable overlap with the GOALS questionnaire (Pöhlmann & Brunstein, 1997), another standardized questionnaire on life goals.
