Knowledge and competency standards for specialized cognitive behavior therapy for adult obsessive-compulsive disorder
2021, Psychiatry ResearchCitation Excerpt :With few exceptions, the relevant literature consists largely of theoretical papers, clinical recommendations, case reports, and uncontrolled outcome studies. Some of the literature focuses on prevention or early intervention (e.g., Maltby and Tolin, 2003; Simpson et al., 2008b), while other reports describe interventions designed to address treatment-interfering behavior that emerges during the course of therapy (e.g., Sookman and Pinard, 1999; VanDyke and Pollard, 2005; Sookman and Pinard, 2007; Sookman, 2016). 2017, Psychiatry ResearchCitation Excerpt :Thiel et al. (2016) demonstrated that ERP via schema therapy reduced OCD severity and its symptoms. Also, Sookman and Pinard (1999) found that the schema-focused cognitive therapy improved maladaptive schemas in CBT-resistant OCD patients. However, our study suggests that future research should be conducted on the schema therapy in OCD patients with elevated schemas.
Efficacy of cognitive-behavioral therapy for obsessive-compulsive disorder
2015, Psychiatry ResearchCitation Excerpt :Several studies have reported response to combined treatments using the most stringent criterion for recovery of YBOCS≤7 at posttreatment, that is, no longer meeting criteria for OCD. In an early study of longer therapy duration, Sookman and Pinard (1999) reported recovery on symptoms, related beliefs, and depression of a case series of seven patients who had been previously unable to collaborate in ERP (mean duration previous CBT of 2 years). Treatment consisted of an average of 10 months of cognitive therapy administered prior to and during ERP.
