A structured assessment of motor function and behavior in patients with Kleefstra syndrome
2016, European Journal of Medical GeneticsCitation Excerpt :Research has documented that CBCL is better on revealing externalizing problems than internalizing problems in populations of individuals with moderate to profound ID (Koskentausta et al., 2004). Other studies support the cautious use of CBCL in adolescents with a range of ID (Borthwick-Duffy et al., 1997; Dekker et al., 2002). CBCL has also been used in research on Down syndrome (DS), William syndrome (WS), Prader–Willi syndrome (PWS) and CHARGE syndrome.

2012, Research in Developmental DisabilitiesCitation Excerpt :The psychometric properties of the CBCL have been tested for children with ID in several studies. Borthwick-Duffy, Lane, and Widaman (1997) conducted a factor analysis with children and adolescents with ID, but the results did not confirm the factors established in earlier studies with children without ID. However, these authors only studied 67 children.
Frequency and severity of challenging behaviour in people with profound intellectual and multiple disabilities
2010, Research in Developmental DisabilitiesCitation Excerpt :The participants in this study are mainly from residential facilities. Because living environment and the prevalence of challenging behaviour are related (Borthwick-Duffy, Lane, & Widaman, 1997), one should be careful when generalizing the current results to people with PIMD who are living in more community-based settings. The BPI was used to collect data even though this instrument was not developed specifically for people with PIMD, which could be a threat to the internal validity of the findings.
