Using a 3-session MI intervention with adolescents and parents facilitated their engagement with a prevention program focused on adolescent problem behaviors which in turn was associated with decreased teenage substance use [37,38]. Finally, Anez and colleagues (2008) found MI congruent with core Latine cultural values, highlighting its relevance to working with Latine adolescents and their families [39].
