Adolescent Pride Festival Attendees—Assessing Their Interactions With Primary Care Physicians
2020, Journal of Adolescent HealthCitation Excerpt :To our knowledge, there is currently no data with which to compare this in the medical literature. There is evidence to suggest that rural adolescents, in general, may initiate sexual intercourse earlier and have higher rates of STIs, sexual risk behaviors, and pregnancy than their urban peers [17–20]. There is a paucity of literature, however, examining the influence of geographic location on adolescent LGBT health.

2007, Journal of the Association of Nurses in AIDS CareCitation Excerpt :Young adults in the urban group were more likely to have had sexual intercourse than were those in the rural group. Consistent with other sexual behavior studies, sexual experience was higher in urban young adults than in rural young adults (DiClemente, Brown, Beausoleil, & Lodico, 1993; Khan, Brown, Nagot, Salouka, & Weir, 2006). According to Kitsiripornchai et al. (1998), urban Thai men have a higher HIV prevalence than their rural cohort.
