2022, NeuropsychologiaCitation Excerpt :Additionally, it modifies the discharge threshold of stimulated neurons and corrects the possibility of nerve firing. Thus, anodic stimulation increases the firing rate of neurons by affecting cellular depolarization and enhances or decreases long-term signal transmission between two neurons (Krause et al., 2013; Ladeira et al., 2011; Nitsche et al., 2008; Rahimi et al., 2019; Robin et al., 1990; Tallal et al., 1993). Research also shows that the function of the auditory cortex is essential for detecting the short gap in the GIN test and that cortical neurons respond to the end of the gap based on the burst characteristic of the firing as the gap termination response (GTR).
