Scaffolds for regeneration of the pulp-dentine complex
2019, Handbook of Tissue Engineering Scaffolds: Volume OneEffect of endodontic sealers on tooth color
2013, Journal of DentistryCitation Excerpt :Differences in the reported time and intensity of color changes are probably due to differences in the study methodology. Most traditional studies2,4,6 examined the color changes using the visual method. The present study used a clinically applicable method, an intra-oral spectrophotometer, to quantify the color changes.
Differentiation of BMMSCs into odontoblast-like cells induced by natural dentine matrix
2013, Archives of Oral BiologyCitation Excerpt :Direct pulp capping with materials, such as calcium hydroxide and mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA), has been widely used for tissue repair and regeneration where some vital tissue remains, although the long-term intracanal placement of calcium hydroxide may reduce the fracture resistance of root dentine after endodontic treatment.2 With pulpal necrosis, conventional root canal therapy with loss of tooth vitality is the common treatment approach, although this may compromise the tooth's physical properties, including discoloration of the crown.3–6 While root canal therapy can prolong tooth functionality, the removal of pulp in a compromised tooth may lead to premature tooth loss.7
Whitening the single discolored tooth
2011, Dental Clinics of North AmericaCitation Excerpt :Incomplete removal of pulpal debris, especially in the pulp horn area, is another cause of discoloration in a single root-filled tooth.5 Root-filling materials can also cause coronal discoloration.6 Bleaching can be effective in removing stains depending on the substance.
Clinical comparison between the bleaching efficacy of 37% peroxide carbamide gel mixed with sodium perborate with established intracoronal bleaching agent
2009, Oral Surgery, Oral Medicine, Oral Pathology, Oral Radiology and EndodontologyNonvital Tooth Bleaching: A Review of the Literature and Clinical Procedures
2008, Journal of EndodonticsCitation Excerpt :Removal of all tissues and correct intracoronal bleaching in these cases are usually successful, but they are unnecessary and can be avoided if all pulpal remnants are removed from the access cavity. Incomplete removal of filling materials and sealer remnants (48–52) or medicaments containing tetracycline (53) from the pulp chamber can cause endodontically treated teeth to discolor. This is a frequent occurrence but can easily be prevented by removing all materials to a level just below the bone.
