Development and description of SAAM intervention: A brief, multidimensional and psycho-educational intervention for adults with mild traumatic brain injury
2021, Annals of Physical and Rehabilitation MedicineCitation Excerpt :Perpetuating factors are primary targets for post-acute intervention, to prevent long-term PCSs. In terms of cognitive reactions, causal misattribution (i.e., erroneous re-attribution of common benign symptoms to the TBI due to expectation or anticipation of symptoms commonly known to occur after mTBI), PCS catastrophizing, and anticipation of negative long-term evolution have repeatedly been linked to PPCSs [25–27]. In addition, a tendency to overestimate premorbid competency in comparison to actual health status and to underestimate premorbid problems, known as the “good old days bias”, appears to be associated with PPCSs [28].
Coping and Health-Related Quality of Life after Closed Head Injury
2020, Clinical Neurology and NeurosurgeryCitation Excerpt :This view is supported by Jacobson [3] who held the opinion that the subjective complaints after CHI cannot be explained alone by an organic model, but that illness coping and cognitive behavioral factors must also be considered. Even after mild CHI, complaints such as headache, tiredness, forgetfulness and a generally reduced mental capacity have been frequently described [3,4]. This complex of symptoms is generally called post-concussive syndrome (PCS) [3,4].

2014, Aminoff's Neurology and General Medicine: Fifth EditionPostconcussive complaints, anxiety, and depression related to vocational outcome in minor to severe traumatic brain injury
2013, Archives of Physical Medicine and RehabilitationCitation Excerpt :Therefore, we conceive scores on the HADS in this group of patients with TBI as a valid measure of anxiety and depression and not as the result of a general tendency to express complaints. Postconcussive complaints are related to psychological, social, and behavioral factors.34-36 Other studies also show that postconcussive complaints are related to higher levels of anxiety and depression after TBI, which influence outcome.8,9,14,17,37
