Abstract

This study investigated which explanations mothers most commonly give for their child's enuresis, and the relationship between these explanations and maternal tolerance. Mothers in general perceived the causes of enuresis as stable and uncontrollable, blaming the child being an infrequent response. As predicted, greater intolerance was associated with greater perceived burden on the mother, and with attributions to causal factors which were controllable by the child.
