Abstract

The experimental modification of a sibling interaction is described. A 6-yr-old boy and his 3-yr-old brother frequently engaged in assaultive and destructive behavior. Treatment was carried out in the home using the experimenter and later the mother as the therapist. The childrens' undesirable behavior changed markedly as a result of a token reinforcement system and a time-out from reinforcement procedure. According to parenlal and teacher reports, the behavior reinforced during the experimental hour did generalize to other times and situations.
