AAPT Diagnostic Criteria for Peripheral Neuropathic Pain: Focal and Segmental Disorders
2019, Journal of PainCitation Excerpt :A variety of names were used to refer to the same clinical phenomena (eg, reflex sympathetic dystrophy (RSD), causalgia, neuroalgodystrophy). Various incompatible diagnostic criteria were proposed by individual researchers (eg, Gibbons and Wilson101, Kozin et al145, Veldman et al240) as well as the IASP Subcommittee on Taxonomy,49 although none became widely accepted for clinical or research purposes. Previous criteria used a variety of diagnostic formats, including classifications reflecting diagnostic certainty,101,145 a quantitative “RSD Score,”101 and formats paralleling those currently used for diagnosing fibromyalgia and headache disorders.240
