Authenticiteit: een psychoanalytische benadering

Samenvatting

In dit artikel wordt een pleidooi gehouden voor een herwaardering van het concept authenticiteit in de psychoanalyse en haar afgeleide therapieën. Er wordt ingegaan op een psychoanalytische definitie van het concept, geïllustreerd met een casus van een psychoanalytische therapie. De analyse van muzikale rêverieën die opduiken in de beleving van de therapeut tijdens een stagnerende fase van de therapie, leidt tot een meer authentieke houding bij de therapeut en brengt zo een deblokkering van het therapeutisch proces tot stand. Vervolgens wordt het begrip authenticiteit als psychoanalytisch concept verder uitgediept, de historische oorsprong wordt beschreven en de relatie tussen authenticiteit en het zelf wordt belicht. Ten slotte wordt de vraag beantwoord aan welke voorwaarden een authentieke therapeut dient te voldoen.
