Het signaleren van simulanten in de neuropsychologische praktijk

Samenvatting

Clinici zijn getraind om de rapportage van patiënten te geloven en nemen over het algemeen aan dat hun patiënten zich maximaal inspannen tijdens neuropsychologisch onderzoek. Externe drijfveren, zoals financiële compensatie of het vermijden van werk, kunnen mensen echter motiveren om opzettelijk cognitieve symptomen te veinzen (simuleren) zodat zij kunnen profiteren van een neuropsychologische diagnose. Het opzettelijk produceren van valse of overdreven symptomen op basis van externe drijfveren wordt omschreven als malingeren. Binnen het neuropsychologische onderzoek is een verscheidenheid aan detectiestrategieën ontwikkeld waarvan is aangetoond dat zij efficiënt onderscheid kunnen maken tussen malingeren en ongeveinsde prestaties. In het huidige artikel worden bestaande detectiestrategieën voor het signaleren van malingeren van cognitieve beperkingen gepresenteerd.
