Samenvatting
De oudercursus Incredible Years leert ouders vaardigheden voor het omgaan met opstandig en agressief gedrag bij jonge kinderen, om probleemgedrag te voorkomen of verminderen. Uit een eerste onderzoek in Nederland bleek dat Incredible Years als preventieve interventie het opvoedgedrag van deelnemende ouders verbetert en het probleemgedrag van kinderen vermindert. Bovendien is Incredible Years kosteneffectief: de kosten van deelname wegen ruim op tegen kosten die het probleemgedrag met zich meebrengt. Inmiddels loopt een onderzoek naar Incredible Years als behandeling bij gezinnen met een lager opleidingsniveau en gezinnen met een niet-westerse migratieachtergrond.
