Het ganglion

Samenvatting

Een ganglion is een cysteuze zwelling in een gewrichtskapsel of in een peesschede als gevolg van degeneratie van het gewrichtskapsel of de peesschede. Het ganglion is in 60 tot 70% van de gevallen gelokaliseerd op de rug van de pols. In 13 tot 20% komt het voor aan de binnenzijde van de pols. Tevens worden ganglia gevonden op de hand, de knie en de voet. Het gaat om een ronde, vast-elastische zwelling die los ligt van de huid. De grootte varieert van enkele millimeters tot centimeters. In een enkel geval wordt de zwelling pas zichtbaar bij strekken of buigen van de pols.
