Samenvatting
Het is een publiek geheim dat het onderzoek in de psychotherapie tot nu toe bijzonder weinig invloed heeft gehad op de praktijk van psychotherapeuten. Dit zegt iets over de houding van practici ten aanzien van onderzoek, maar het zegt ongetwijfeld ook veel over de kwaliteit en de relevantie van het onderzoek zelf. Toch is er mijns inziens één domein waarin het onderzoek wel een belangrijke rol heeft gespeeld en nog speelt: de problematiek van verschillen en overeenkomsten tussen therapeutische richtingen en de daarbij aansluitende vraag naar de mogelijkheid en wenselijkheid van integratie.
