Abstract

Relapse prevention method in a forensic day–treatment centre
There is a gap between the clinical treatment facilities and the out–patient treatment for delinquents. A forensic day–treatment centre attempts to fill this gap. Clients who wish to stop offending but who do not manage this without intensive nonvoluntary treatment are offered day–treatment for a six months period. The treatment is modelled on the principles of the relapse prevention method, wich means that the client learns to take responsibility for the chain of decisions leading up to an offence being committed. He learns to intervene in this chain and find alternative solutions for his problems. The article describes the practical outline of the program and makes a first tentative evaluation.
