Een Europese richtlijn over voeding en decubitus

Abstract

The direct and causal relationship between pressure ulcers (PU) and nutrition still remains unclear. Nevertheless, many acute and chronically ill patients, at risk of PU or with established PU have undesired weight loss and malnutrition. These patients, therefore, need structural nutritional attention. In this article the essentials of the European Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel’s “Nutritional Guideline for Pressure Ulcer Prevention and Treatment” are discussed. The recommendations of this guideline still are very helpful in daily pressure ulcer care.
