Mentale inspanningstests in de GGZ

Abstract

Neuropsychologisch onderzoek is ook in de GGZ inmiddels een standaard onderdeel van de psychodiagnostiek. De psychopathologie bij patiënten uit deze sector kan een effect hebben op de neuropsychologische testresultaten. Dit kan de validiteit van deze resultaten aantasten. Een patiënt met niet-epileptische aanvallen (‘pseudo epilepsie’) kan bijvoorbeeld zeer lage scores hebben op geheugentests, die zelfs lager zijn dan de scores die gewoonlijk bij epilepsie patiënten gevonden worden. Bij aandoeningen als depressie en schizofrenie kan apathie de motivatie tot optimaal presteren verminderen. De testresultaten geven dan geen betrouwbaar beeld van het daadwerkelijk cognitief functioneren. Bij het gebruik van persoonlijkheidsvragenlijsten (zoals de veelgebruikte MMPI-2) is het al lang een goede gewoonte om de validiteit van het persoonlijkheidsprofiel te controleren aan de hand van de validiteitsschalen. Er zijn nu ook instrumenten voorhanden om mentale inspanning te meten, en daardoor te controleren voor de validiteit van de neuropsychologische testresultaten.
