Verwachtingen van jongeren en ouders over ontwikkelingstaken in de adolescentiefase

Samenvatting:

De doelstellingen van dit onderzoek waren 1. het vergelijken van verwachtingen die adolescenten en ouders hebben met betrekking tot het tijdstip van het volbrengen van een aantal ontwikkelingstaken, en 2. na te gaan of de discrepantie in verwachtingen samenhangt met de mate van conflicten in de ouder/adolescent–relatie. Resultaten laten zien dat de ouders het volbrengen van ontwikkelingstaken consistent op een later tijdstip verwachten dan de adolescenten. Ofschoon ouders latere verwachtingen hebben, is er een grote overeenkomst tussen de adolescenten en de ouders in de volgorde waarin de ontwikkelingstaken volbracht zouden moeten worden. De hoeveelheid conflicten tussen de adolescent en zijn of haar ouders was positief gerelateerd aan de verschillen in verwachtingen.
