Een overzicht van interventiestudies

Samenvatting

In een overzicht van interventiestudies wordt nagegaan of het geven van opvoedingsondersteuning effect heeft op de sensitiviteit van de opvoeder en op de gehechtheidsrelatie tussen ouder en kind. Geconcludeerd wordt dat interventies effectief zijn, waarbij het effect op de sensitiviteit groter is dan het effect op de gehechtheid. Er zijn studies die positieve effecten laten zien, maar er zijn ook onderzoeken waarbij geen of negatiefe effecten werden gevonden. Dit lijkt verklaard te kunnen worden uit een gebrek aan vergelijkbaarheid van de onderzoeken: deze verschillen sterk qua inhoud en intensiteit van de interventie. De uitkomsten laten zien dat er nog tegenstrijdigheden en lacunes zijn op dit terrein. Ook lijkt de speurtocht naar determinanten van gehechtheid nog niet beëindigd.

Summary

In a review of intervention studies the issue is addressed whether supporting a parent's sensitivity and the parent–infant attachment relationship is effective. It is concluded that interventions are effective, the effect on sensitivity being more substantial than the effect on attachment. There are studies that show positive effects, though other studies show negative effects, or no effect at all. These outcomes may be explained by a lack of comparability: the studies differ with respect to content and intensity of the intervention. The review reveals the contradictions and gaps in our knowledge in this area that still exist. Moreover, the search for determinants of attachment seems still to be incomplete.
