semenvatting

Abstract
Cognitive behaviour therapy is the only evidence-based treatment for chronic fatigue syndrome. Cognitions play a crucial role in the maintenance of chronic fatigue syndrome. Some of the cognitions could be characterised as preoccupations. The interventions that are effective in restructuring these preoccupations and thus have great value in the recovery of patients are being discussed in this paper. Because patients with chronic fatigue syndrome often do not experience their preoccupations as pathological, enhancement of motivation is a crucial part of the treatment.
