Samenvatting

Het verlies van het natuurlijke gebit of delen van het gebit leidt tot resorptie van het kaakbot. Naast de tandeloosheid zijn diverse lokale en systemische factoren van invloed op het resorptieproces. Een veel gebruikte classificatie om de kwantiteit van het botvolume van de edentate processus alveolaris aan te geven is die van Cawood en Howell (1988) (Schema 20.1).
