10 Assessment van psychopathologie: categorisch of dimensioneel?

Samenvatting

Het ontstaan van psychopathologie bij kinderen en jongeren kan worden verklaard vanuit een samenspel tussen risico- en beschermende factoren in kind, gezin en omgeving dat onlosmakelijk verbonden is met de ontwikkeling van kinderen, ouders en gezinnen. Geïnspireerd vanuit het levensloopperspectief in de ontwikkelingspsychologie, de systeemtheorie en het ecologische denken worden transactionele modellen naar voren geschoven om de complexe etiologie en de verwevenheid tussen factoren duidelijk te maken. Soms wordt meer klemtoon gelegd op biologische variabelen, soms meer op omgevingsvariabelen, maar steeds worden modellen (Cummings, Davies & Campbell, 2000) gekenmerkt door multidimensionaliteit (zowel kind- als omgevingsfactoren worden bestudeerd) en bidirectionaliteit (wederzijdse invloed tussen kind en omgeving). Ook in de diagnostiek dient rekening te worden gehouden met het ontwikkelingsperspectief. Wanneer we het model van de diagnostische cyclus waarin een onderscheid wordt gemaakt tussen onderkennende, verklarende en indicerende diagnostiek als uitgangspunt nemen (De Bruyn, Ruijssenaars, Pameijer & van Aarle, 2003), dan merken we dat dit perspectief reeds vanaf het begin van het diagnostisch proces aanwezig is.

De Nederlandse versie van het ASEBA-systeem wordt uitgegeven aan de afdeling Kinder- en Jeugdpsychiatrie van het Erasmus MC – Sophiakinderziekenhuis te Rotterdam ( www.aseba.nl ). Het onderzoek naar de validering en normering van de vertaalde lijsten wordt aan deze afdeling gecoördineerd. Momenteel zijn Nederlandse noch Vlaamse normen voor de recentste versie beschikbaar.
