Description

The Achenbach System of Empirically Based Assessment (ASEBA) comprises instruments for assessing behavioral, emotional, social, and thought problems and adaptive functioning. Developmentally appropriate instruments are available for ages from 1½ to over 90 years. This entry focuses on ages 1½–5 and 6–18 years, but ASEBA instruments for ages 18–59 are also useful for assessing parents of children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) for both clinical and research purposes. Most ASEBA instruments can be self-administered online or on paper and can also be administered by lay interviewers.
