Samenvatting

Leerstijlen in de supervisie worden meestal ontleend aan Kolb en diens vragenlijst. Ook de leercyclus is daaraan ontleend. Deze theorie is echter op vele fronten zwak: niet alleen qua verklaringskracht maar ook psychometrisch, zeker met betrekking tot het leren van volwassen professionals. In dit hoofdstuk geven we een aanzet tot een andere, meer valide kijk op het leren van supervisanten via de Cognitive Style Index en de neurowetenschappelijke onderbouwing daarvan. Verder besteden we aandacht aan het vermogen te mentaliseren en epistemisch te vertrouwen dat ook ten grondslag ligt aan leerprocessen van psychotherapeuten.

De realiteit van de ggz in deze tijd maakt dat supervisanten vaak patiënten voor de supervisie psychodynamische psychotherapie inbrengen die al in een hele andere vorm van behandeling zitten, bijvoorbeeld steunende therapie, cognitieve gedragstherapie of schematherapie.
