Samenvatting

Veel risicofactoren voor hart- en vaatziekten zijn leefstijlgerelateerd: roken, overgewicht, onvoldoende bewegen en ongezonde voeding. In de praktijk blijkt dat leefstijl slechts in een deel van de consulten ter sprake wordt gebracht. De praktijkondersteuners besteden meer tijd en aandacht aan leefstijladviezen vergeleken met de huisartsen. Leefstijladviezen en leefstijlbegeleiding kunnen door middel van de effecten op gedrag, risicofactoren en op ziekte gezondheidswinst opleveren, al wisselt de mate van het effect afhankelijk van de inhoud van de interventie en de setting. Ook buiten de spreekkamer ligt er een uitdaging voor huisartsenteams om samen met andere partijen vorm te gaan geven aan cardiovasculaire preventie en gezondheid in de wijk.
