8. Langetermijneffecten van cardio-respiratoire training

Abstract

In hoofdstuk 3 en 4 is beschreven dat er in het menselijk lichaam talloze veranderingen plaatsvinden ten gevolge van (acute) inspanning. Sommige van deze veranderingen houden stand voor de duur van de inspanning, andere houden nog wat langer aan. Training is echter iets anders dan een eenmalige inspanning, zoals is uiteengezet in hoofdstuk 7. Een kenmerk van training is (onder andere) dat deze zich over een lange periode uitstrekt. Daarom veroorzaakt training ook langetermijnaanpassingen in het lichaam. Deze aanpassingen zijn talrijk, en zeer uiteenlopend van aard. Een aantal van de belangrijkste adaptaties aan training komen hierna aan bod. Er is geen pretentie volledig te zijn, aangezien daarvoor een heel boek nog niet genoeg zou zijn. Bovendien zijn de effecten van training nog altijd onderwerp van veel inspannings-fysiologisch onderzoek.
