8. Kosteneffectiviteit van behandelingen van lage rugklachten

Inleiding

Kosten en kosteneffectiviteit van interventies spelen een steeds belangrijker rol bij de beslissing om nieuwe interventies in te voeren of bestaande interventies te blijven vergoeden vanuit het basispakket van de zorgverzekering. De vraag naar gezondheidszorg neemt toe door de toenemende vergrijzing en de groei van technologische mogelijkheden. De financiële middelen voor de gezondheidszorg zijn echter niet toereikend om volledig aan deze vraag te kunnen voldoen. Er moeten dus keuzes gemaakt worden welke interventies wel en welke niet vergoed worden vanuit het basispakket. Economische evaluaties onderbouwen deze keuzes.
