5. Kenmerken van succesvolle innovaties

Samenvatting

Een implementatieproces start met een duidelijke omschrijving van wat er precies geïmplementeerd moet worden en welke verbeteringen in de zorg nagestreefd worden. Tegelijkertijd worden veel innovaties enigszins aangepast aan de lokale behoeften en mogelijkheden; ze worden als het ware omgevormd van een ‘halffabricaat’ tot een ‘eindproduct’. Verschillende onderdelen van de patiëntenzorg kunnen vragen om verschillende soorten veranderingsvoorstellen. Hierbij kan onderscheid worden gemaakt naar: optimaal gebruiken van wetenschappelijk kennis (klinische richtlijnen), verbetering van de coördinatie van zorg (zorgpaden) en optimalisering van zorgprocessen (best practices). Een groot aantal kenmerken van innovaties kan de invoering ervan bevorderen. Bekend zijn de kenmerken uit de theorie van Rogers: voordeel, passendheid, complexiteit, probeerbaarheid en zichtbaarheid. De richtlijn of innovatie is bij voorkeur goed vormgegeven: heldere taal, overzichtelijke presentatie, focus op kernpunten, aantrekkelijke lay-out, enzovoort. Ten aanzien van de vraag wie bij de ontwikkeling betrokken moeten worden, spelen herkenbaarheid, representativiteit en deskundigheid een rol.
