In Improving the Psychological Wellbeing of Children and Young People: Effective Prevention and Early Intervention Across Health, Education and Social Care, Julia Faulconbridge, along with many other contributors, aims to stimulate a new way to approach mental health issues and psychological wellbeing as a whole. The focus is to help “the next generation to grow up to have a greater psychological wellbeing and be more resilient” (Faulconbridge et al. 2019, p. 11). The book offers many interventions that would work not only to prevent mental health issues but also to “promote positive child development” as is the new perspective taken by the authors. The topics and interventions discussed within the book are offered for psychological health services and professionals to provide them with new skills and strategies for the future of psychological health. The book is successful in its goal to promote intervention and possibilities that can be beneficial in the present and in the future. The interventions and services target a wide variety of individuals in society in order to ensure a communal change in addition to individualistic changes. Each chapter offers a different focus as well as various types of interventions and each chapter will be covered individually in order to better understand the goals of the authors. …
